ALEX EALA is set to begin her Southeast Asian swing with a direct ticket to the Singapore Open Round of 16.
The Filipina tennis star is seeded No. 3 in the Singapore Open, earning a first-round bye in the inaugural WTA 500 edition of the long-running tournament.

With only four players seeded, the 21-year old will skip the round of 32 and head straight to the second round, with her opener penciled for Wednesday, September 23.
Eala, currently No. 18 in the world, awaits the winner of the match between Tatiana Prozorova and Sofia Costoulas for her next opponent.
Eala follows only top seed and reigning French Open champion Mirra Andreeva, as well as second seed Amanda Anisimova, in the tournament's pecking order.
She will be in Anisimova's side of the draw while top-seed Andreeva will be kept company by defending champion Elise Mertens, Leylah Fernandez and Barbora Krejčíková in the other half.
The Singapore Open runs from September 21 to 27, marking the first WTA 500 event in the Southeast Asian region and Eala's first competitive action since her US Open campaign, where she reached the third round.
In the next two weeks, she is also set to take her act to Aichi-Nagoya, Japan to fly the Philippine flag at the Asian Games.
