TOP-RANKED Treat Huey and Henri Kontinen of Finland defeated second seeds Julian Knowle and Alexander Peya, 7-5, 6-3, to win the St. Petersburg Open doubles tournament final.

The Filipino netter won his second ATP World Tour doubles title following his victory in the Estoril Open with Scott Lipsky, boosting his world ranking that could help him qualify for the Rio De Janeiro Olympics.

Overall, it was Huey’s fifth title on tour, but the first with Kontinen as his partner.

“We played well. It was our first time together, so we had some fun and we played pretty well together. We enjoyed playing together and that's always a good thing. Coming away with the title is always a lot of fun,” said the 30-year-old Huey in an interview with ATP World

“We're going to play the next couple of weeks, so this was perfect for us to get such a good start,” said Kontinen.

Last June, Huey teamed up with Denise Dy to win the mixed doubles gold in the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.
