THE UAE Royals beat the Singapore Slammers, 28-22, on Saturday in the International Premier Tennis League Manila leg at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Reigning US Open champion Marin Cilic defeated Tomas Berdych, 6-4, before teaming up with Nenad Zimonjic to beat Berdych and Bruno Soares, 6-5.

Kristina Mladenovic downed Daniela Hantuchova, 6-1, in the women’s singles while Goran Ivanisevic wrapped up the victory with a 6-5 win over Patrick Rafter in the legends’ singles.

Hantuchova and Nick Kyrgios, who replaced Soares midway in the doubles match using the league’s unique substitution rule, handed the Royals’ only loss as they won over Mladenovic and Zimonjic, 6-5.

The Royals remained undefeated in two ties for eight points after beating the Manila Mavericks, 29-24, on Friday.
