AJ Lim gets boost ahead of PH-Thailand Davis Cup tie with second straight UAAP tennis MVP title
AJ Lim hopes to deliver for the Philippines as it hosts Thailand at the PCA Indoor courts where he won the PCA Open at age 15.

RISING star AJ Lim gained an extra boost ahead of the country’s Davis Cup second round tie with Thailand as University of the East won the UAAP tennis championship for the second straight year.

Lim, who is turning 18 in May, emerged as the tournament MVP for the second consecutive year.

Josshua Kinaadman, Rogelio Estaño and RJ Saga also did well for UE, which downed Ateneo, 3-0, in the final.

“It’s a special feeling to lead UE to another championship and to win the MVP award at the same time. Hopefully, I can sustain the momentum going into our crucial tie with the Thais,” said Lim.

The Philippine team will face the Thais on April 7 and 8 at the PCA indoor courts.

Lim, supported by PAL president and COO Jaime Bautista, Philippine Sports Commission and Philta president Antonio Cablitas, went undefeated in the UAAP.

UE’s team is handled by AJ’s older brother Numero Lim, who preaches sacrifice and team unity.

“Those are the ingredients of our success,” said the older Lim.
