JURENCE Mendoza captured the title in the Chickeeduck Hong Kong Open Junior Tennis Championships on Saturday with a 6-2 6-3 win over Adrian Bodmer of Switzerland at the Victoria Park courts.
The second-seed Mendoza dominated Bodmer to complete his amazing championship run with the loss of just one set in this Grade 3 International Tennis Federation (ITF) juniors tournament.
After drawing a first-round bye, Mendoza beat Marco Lam of Hong Kong, 6-3 6-2, before defeating Aoran Wang of China, 7-6 6-4, to move into the quarterfinals.
The 16-year-old Mendoza got his first challenge in the round-of-eight when he was stretched to three sets by Teeradon Tortrakul of Thailand before prevailing, 3-6 6-3 6-2.
Mendoza, who is being trained by the Philippine Tennis Academy, walloped Tim Van Rijthoven of Netherlands, 6-4 6-2, in the Final Four.
