    Gonzales, Dayrit score straight-sets wins in opening matches at Rizal Memorial Tennis Center

    MARCEN Gonzales bucked a start opener to bundle out Renzo de Ocampo, 6-4, 6-0, while Julian Dayrit and Emmanuel Fuellas turned back their respective rivals on Tuesday to advance in the boys’ 18-and-under singles of the 2014 First Gen-Juntaphil Metro Age Group Tennis Championships at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

    Dayrit downed Jio Chakas, 6-4, 6-3, and Fuellas repulsed Ricarte Santos, 6-4, 6-4.

    Albather Rosales thumped Lorenzo Cruz, 6-1, 6-2; Rodolfo Barquin clipped Vincent Alanis, 6-4, 6-1; Marc Agner trounced Carl Abadia, 6-0, 6-3; and Chris Prulla routed Al Burahan, 6-1, 6-0.

    In the girls’ 18-and-under, Angela Cabaral whipped Katrina Penaflor, 6-0, 6-0, while Gea Chakas turned back Michal Puyot, 6-3, 5-7 (10-6), in the girls’ 12-and-under section.

    Joseph Saraza whipped Darwin Libre, 6-2, 6-0, while Al Burahan defeated John Sarabillo, 6-4, 6-2, in the boys’ 16-and-U division.

    Tomas Puno clobbered Gabriel Siasat, 6-1, 6-1; Lorenzo Cruz outclassed Eubert del Rosario, 6-1, 6-3; Arthur Pantino booted out Adrian Encinares, 6-0, 6-0; Justine Suarez beat John Gulfo, 6-3, 6-1; Santino Vistan downed Carl Abadia, 6-4, 6-1; John Rosales held off Miguel Buenaventura, 6-4, 6-3; Jose Mapa wore down Miguel Gran, 6-3, 4-6 (14-12); and Karl Tenorio downed Athan Arejola, 6-1, 6-1.

    The top seeded Pantino also cruised in the 14-and-under category, routing Nemison Diaz, 6-0, 6-0, while Alan Ordinario defeated Jason Guillermo, 6-3, 6-4; Saraza disposed of Arejola, 6-1, 6-3; No. 7 Santino Vistan downed Karl Carasus, 6-1, 6-2; and third seed Justine Suarez whitewashed Harley Culaba, 6-0, 6-0.

    In the 10-under unisex class, top seed Miguel Vicencio blanked Halley Agustin, 4-0, 4-0, while Justine Maneja beat Mib Burahan, 4-1, 4-0, and Brent So defeated Kidlat Estogero, 4-2, 4-1.

    Eighth seed Jude Hidalgo edged Mae Rosales, 4-5(5), 4-2, 10-5; Riley Banaaga whipped Alessi Cruz, 4-0, 4-2; Shant Nuguit routed Joshua Diva, 4-0, 4-0; No. 6 Von Saraza beat Stone Wu, 4-0, 4-0; No. 7 Joaquin de Leon downed JB Cuarto, 4-1, 4-0; Francis Guillermo crushed Mica Emana, 4-2, 4-1; and No. 4 Edgardo Angara defeated Angelo Rosales, 4-1, 4-0, in the tournament sponsored by First Gen Corp., organized by Juntaphil, sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association, with Wilson as the official ball.
