JOHAN Brunstrom of Sweden and Frederick Nielsen of Denmark will take on Filipino netter Francis Casey Alcantara and partner Christopher Rungat of Indonesia for the doubles crown of the ATP Challenger Philippine Open after a tight semifinal win on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
The second-seed Brunstrom and Nielsen defeated Maximilian Neuchrist of Austria and Divij Sharan of India in a close match, 6-3, 6-7, 10-7, to move into the finals of the $75,000 tournament.
Brunstrom and Nielsen face Alcantara and Rungat in the finals set on Sunday, 6 p.m., at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
Alcantara and Runglat beat Marco Chiudinelli of Switzerland and Lukas Lacko of Slovakia, 6-3, 6-2, in the quarterfinal round and automatically made it to the finals after semifinal opponent and fourth seed Sanchai Ratiwatana and Sonchat Ratiwatana withdrew from the tournament sponsored by the Cebuana Lhuillier, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Tennis Association, Dunlop, Chris Sports and TV5.
