LOCAL bets are expected to hog the spotlight when Gen. Santos City hosts the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala presented by Babolat tennis tournament beginning Friday at the City Court Tennis Club.
Registration fees have been waived and T-shirts and giveaways await all participants, and organizers see a banner field slugging it out for top honors in nine events in the four-day tournament.
Events on tap are the 10-under unisex division, and the boys and girls’ 12-under, 14-under, 16-under and 18-under categories.
CCTC president Mario Dideles says top young players from other cities and provinces in Mindanao are expected to vie for honors and the prizes in the tournament sanctioned by Philta headed by president and Paranaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez.
“We thank the host club for making it an open tournament, giving the youth of Gen. San and those from nearby provinces to get a feel of tournament play and gain experience,” said Palawan Pawnshop COO Bobby Castro.
The tournament serves as the 18th leg of the nationwide circuit put up by Palawan Pawnshop and Babolat, headed by Technosports president Guillermo Nocom. For details, contact Philta referee Bobby Mangunay at 0915-4046464.
