FILIPINO netter Francis Casey Alcantara's dream run in the ATP Challenger Philippine Open men’s doubles competition fell at the final hurdle on Sunday.
Alcantara and partner Christopher Rungkat of Indonesia bowed to second seeds Johan Brunstrom of Sweden and Frederik Nielsen of Denmark, 6-2, 6-2, falling just short of the title
Alcantara and Rungkat stunned top-seed Ilija Bozoljac of Serbia and Andreas Siljestrom of Sweden, 4-6, 7-6, 10-7, in the first round before reaching the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Marco Chiudinelli and Lukas Lacko.
Alcantara and Rungkat were given a free ride to the finals after fourth-seed Sanchai Ratiwatana and Sonchat Ratiwatana of Thailand withdrew after their round-of-eight victory in the tournament sponsored by Cebuana Lhuillier, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Tennis Association, Dunlop, Chris Sports and TV5.
