BEYOND Alex Eala, the Philippine Women’s Open features a deep field of seeded players with proven pedigree and recent results that make them serious title threats.
Top seed Tatjana Maria of Germany brings experience and credentials to the top of the draw of the first WTA 125 tournament to ever be hosted by the country.
The 38-year-old is currently ranked No. 42 in the world, a few notches below her career-high of No. 36. She owns four WTA singles titles, highlighted by a WTA 500 win at London’s Queen’s Club in 2025, making her the oldest title winner since Serena Williams in 2020.

Third seed Solana Sierra of Argentina, in contrast, is one of the tour’s fastest risers.
At 21, she sits at a career-high No. 63 after capturing two WTA 125 titles in Antalya and Mallorca in 2025. She also reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon, marking her best Grand Slam result to date.
Fourth seed Donna Vekic of Croatia is the most accomplished Grand Slam performer in the field. The former world No. 17 has four career singles titles and reached the Wimbledon semifinals, her best major finish. She is also a silver medalist at the Paris Olympics and is currently ranked No. 72 by the WTA.

Fifth seed Camila Osorio of Colombia arrives as a three-time WTA champion.
Now ranked No. 84 after reaching a career-high of No. 33, Osorio most recently clinched the trophy at the 2025 WTA 250 Bogota.
Sixth seed Lulu Sun of New Zealand continues to build momentum at the WTA level. The 24-year-old is ranked No. 86, down from a career-high of No. 39, and has claimed two WTA singles titles, including the 2025 Guangzhou WTA 250.
Seventh seed Simona Waltert of Switzerland comes in ranked No. 87, just one spot off her career best. She secured her first WTA 125 title in 2025 in Rio de Janeiro, adding depth to the seeded lineup.
Eighth seed Darja Semenistaja rounds out the top eight. The 23-year-old is ranked No. 98, with a career-high of No. 87, and owns two WTA 125 titles, the latest coming in 2025 at La Bisbal d’Emporda.
Eala's path to finals
Should the seedings go according to form, Eala could face Osorio in the quarterfinals while Sierra or Waltert loom as potential semifinal opponents, setting up a challenging path to the title for the hometown favorite.
With the tournament also made serviceable for Filipinos, three wild card berths were given to young Pinays Tennielle Madis, ITF Juniors No. 196 Elizabeth Abarquez, former ITF Juniors No. 2027, and Kaye Anne Emana.
