TOP seed Luke Alquin Flores and Toni Raymundo won two titles each in dominating the fourth leg of the 16th HEAD 2014 Junior satellite circuit national tennis annual age-group tournament Visayas region at the Lapaz tennis courts in Iloilo City.
Flores dominated Fernando Arguelles in the boys’ singles finals 18-under class, 6-1, 6-4, to clinch the title, and then defeated Lorenzo Angelo Legaspi in the finals of the boys’ singles 16-under division, 6-3, 6-2, for his second title.
Raymundo, also the top player in his age-group, copped the girls’ 18-under singles class crown after winning over Mary Grace Zapanta in the finals, 6-2, 6-0. She likewise whipped Zapanta in the finals of the girls’ singles 16-under class, 6-4, 6-2, for her second crown.
The satellite junior tennis circuit event sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association is supported by Smart Communications, Smart Sports, Chris Sports, HEAD Graphene, Toalson, and HEAD, the official tennis ball.
In other results, No. 1 Joshua Angelo Regino blanked Matthew Alquin Flores in the boys’ singles 14-under class, 6-3 6-3, to bag the crown, while Angelo Meijia trounced Marben Erl Mosquera in the finals of the boys’ 12-under singles category, 8-6 6-3, to cop the crown.
Meijia also bagged the unisex 10-under crown by beating Pete Andre Rodriguez in the championship round, 6-2 5-7 6-2.
Top seed Carlyn Bless Guarde walloped Shyryn Salazar, 6-4, 6-1, for the girls’ 14-under singles trophy, while Kiana De Asis vanquished Shyryn Salazar, 8-6, 7-9, 6-2, for the girls’ 12-under singles title.
The fifth leg is scheduled this week in Bacolod City.
