After more than four months away from doubles action, Alex Eala is back on the court, teaming up with a new partner in Ukrainian Nadiia Kichenok (world No. 62) at the WTA 250 Guangzhou Open.
The 20-year-old Filipino, currently ranked No. 54 in singles, last competed in doubles at Wimbledon in early July, where she and her partner Eva Lys bowed out in the round of 64 to Quinn Gleason and Ingrid Martins, 4–6, 2–6.

Eala is looking to regain momentum in the fifth stop of her Asian swing after a first-round exit in Osaka and a loss in qualifying for the WTA tournament in Wuhan.
Eala and Kichenok makes their Guangzhou debut on Monday at 10:00 a.m., facing the duo of Emily Appletonand Qianhui Tang.

This marks Eala’s fifth tournament in Asia this season, following stops at Jingshan, Suzhou, Osaka, and Wuhan.
Appleton and Tang, meanwhile, reunite as partners for the first time since May, when they reached the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 Saint-Malo in France.
