WHEN Filipinos support, they support hard.
Just ask American doubles specialist Desirae Krawczyk, whose Filipina mom nearly forgot her own daughter’s match because she was too excited to watch Alex Eala at Indian Wells.

The 32-year-old shared her funny experience on her podcast 'The Players Box.'
“My mom’s Filipino, that’s why she’s crazy on Alex,” she said. “She was like, ‘I want to go watch her on Thursday.’ I’m like, ‘Mom… I’m playing Thursday.’"

"She goes, ‘Oh yes, you too. I’ll watch you too.’”
Filipino food from the fandom
Krawczyk, a four-time Grand Slam mixed doubles champion born in California to a Filipina mother hailing from Cagayan, said her mom shows support in the most Filipino way possible: by cooking.
“My mom went to the US Open last year and was like, ‘I’m gonna make her pancit, lumpia,’” she said. “I told Alex about it and she was like, ‘I would love that.’ If I tell my mom that, she’ll make like three big bowls of noodles.”
Because when Filipinos cheer for someone like Eala, of course, the support also comes with a full meal.
