HANNAH Espinosa and Erika Manduriao ruled their respective age-groups in the sixth leg of 2013 HEAD Junior Satellite Circuit national tennis age-group tournament at the Praxevilla tennis courts in Dumaguete City.
Espinosa pocketed the girls’ singles 18-under title by beating Erika Manduriao in the finals, 7-5, 6-2, to lead the winners of the annual junior tennis national circuit supported by Smart Sports, Chris Sports, Meralco, Maynilad, Toalson and HEAD.
“I put a lot of energy in the first set and I’m happy to win another title in this tournament,” said National University standout Espinosa, who also clinch the girls’ 18-under singles crown in the Cebu leg.
But Manduriao bounced back in the girls’ singles 16-under class by rallying past Zethley Mae Alferez in the finals, 5-7, 6-3, 10-4.
In the 14-under girls’ finals, Cebu bet Zethley Mae Alferez defeated Gennifer Pagente 6-0, 6-2, to win the title and recover from her early loss in the 16-under class.
In the boys’ division, Davao City’s Christian Fell Lopez won the boys’ 18- and 16-under singles titles both by walkover against teammate Joel Cantilla.
In the 14-under boys championship round, Bernard Haft of Dumaguete City ripped Fahd Kenneth Banico, 2-6, 7-6 (2), 11-9, to win the crown.
In the 12-under category, Jyle Cyrin Martinez of Davao City won against Joshua Angelo Regino 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 while Fern Alekzander Po of Bacolod City whipped Dumaguete's bet Blake Solon 6-0, 6-1, for the 10-under unisex title.
No.1 seed Blanch Lagrisola bashed Gennifer Pagente, 7-5, 7-6(1), for the 12-under singles girls crown.
