FIRST-time partners Alex Eala and Germany’s Eva Lys are set to test their chemistry against the veteran duo of Quinn Gleason and Ingrid Martins in the first round of the Ladies' Doubles at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships in London.

Eala shifts her focus to doubles after ending her singles run early with a first-round loss to reigning champion Barbora Krejcikova last Tuesday night.

This marks the debut of the Eala-Lys pairing.
In contrast, Gleason and Martins, from the U.S. and Brazil, respectively, are in their second year as partners. They recently won the WTA 125 title in Grado, Italy, last June, adding to their growing record that includes their first final win in Montreux in September 2024.
Martins, 28, and Gleason, 30, are ranked world No. 70 and No. 80 in doubles. Both are players who actively prioritize doubles play.
Alex and Eva's history
Eala and Lys are primarily singles players, ranked No. 56 and No. 61. They’re now looking to carry over their solo success onto the doubles stage.
The two share some history. Eala beat Lys in Barcelona in 2023, leading their head-to-head 1–0.
Martins also defeated Lys in a previous singles meeting in 2022. Aside from this, however, there’s little history between the teams.
They are scheduled to meet on Thursday, around 7:10 PM Manila time.
