ALEX Eala and Nikola Bartunkova bowed to eighth seeds Jelena Ostapenko and Sofia Kenin, 6-3, 3-6, 1-6, in the first round of the women's doubles at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships on early Friday morning, Manila time.

Just roughly three hours after her second-round singles victory, the Filipina returned to the court, this time teaming up with the rising Czech star.

While Eala and Bartunkova raced to a 3-0 start en route to claiming the opening set, American-Latvian veterans Ostapenko and Kenin flipped the match after breaking away from a 2-all tie in the second then dominating the decider with a 5-0 run en route to a come-from-behind win.
The defeat ends Eala and Bartunkova's doubles campaign, leaving the Filipina to focus solely on her singles run at Wimbledon round three.
