GREEN means go, and Alex Eala stormed through her first singles stint on grass, defeating Priscilla Hon, 6-0, 6-2, to open her WTA 125 Lexus Birmingham Open campaign on Tuesday night, Manila time.

Eala wasted no time asserting control, sweeping the opening set in just six games for a dominant 6-0 start.

The Filipina carried the momentum into the second frame with another 5-0 run before Hon got on the board with back-to-back games, 5-2.

Eala, however, quickly shut the door to complete the straight-set rout.

Eala will next face the winner between Belgium’s Greet Minnen and Russia’s Alina Charaeva.

The 21-year-old is the tournament's no. 1 seed.

The Birmingham Classic in Great Britain marks Alex Eala’s 15th tournament of the season following a clay-court campaign that ended at the 2026 French Open, after previously grinding through an extended stretch on hard courts.

She previously saw action in Austria, Stuttgart, Madrid, Italy, and Strasbourg, where she compiled a 4-6 win-loss record on clay.
