CAPPING off her short but memorable dream run alongside American icon Venus Williams, Alex Eala officially wrapped up her debut campaign in the 2026 Bad Homburg Open on Thursday night.
The Filipino-American tandem fell to second-seeded doubles specialists Tereza Mihalikova and Olivia Nichols, 3-6, 2-6, in the women’s doubles quarterfinals of the WTA 500 event.
The Slovak-British pair showed the chemistry that has produced two WTA doubles titles together, controlling play from start to finish and leaving the rising Filipina star and the veteran former world No. 1 searching for answers.
Locked at 3-3 in the opening set, Mihalikova and Nichols reeled off three consecutive games to seize the set before carrying their momentum into the second, where they surged to a 3-1 advantage and never looked back.
The pair's dream partnership, however, still produced a breakthrough victory. In the opening round, Eala and Williams dispatched Alexandra Osborne and Catherine Harrison, 6-3, 6-4, to book a quarterfinal berth.

The defeat formally ended both Eala’s and Williams’ stay in Bad Homburg.
For Williams, the tournament served as part of her return to competition after a lengthy hiatus, with the seven-time Grand Slam singles champion set to reunite with sister Serena Williams in doubles at Wimbledon.
Eala, meanwhile, heads to her second straight appearance at The Championships, carrying a maiden Slam seeding of No. 29.
