DOUBLES standouts Alex Eala and American Iva Jovic advanced to the semifinals of the WTA 250 ASB Classic in Auckland following a walkover win over Jesika Maleckova of Czechia and Mexico’s Renata Zarazua on Thursday.

The duo will next take on the third-seeded Chinese tandem of Yifan Xu and Zhaoxuan Yang on Friday, not before 2:10 p.m. (Manila time).

Eala and Jovic secured their semifinal berth after knocking out Elina Svitolina and Venus Williams in the round of 16.
Xu and Yang, meanwhile, booked their own spot by defeating Isabelle Haverlag and Maia Lumsden in the quarterfinals.
Friday’s clash will mark the first meeting between the two pairs.
In singles action, Eala is also set to play Magda Linette of Poland in the quarterfinals.
