NOW onto her first-ever WTA 500 semifinal appearance, wildcard entrant Alex Eala has gone toe-to-toe with some of the world's best players at the 2026 Berlin Tennis Open.
After ending the run of newly crowned Queen's Club champion Donna Vekic in the opening round, upsetting world No. 2 Elena Rybakina in the Round of 16, and stunning world No. 8 Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals, Eala now finds herself up against another familiar foe in world No. 13 Linda Noskova of Czech Republic.

The eighth-seeded Noskova has been equally impressive on her way to the final four, cruising past Paula Badosa, Diane Parry, and Renata Zarazua. She has yet to drop a set in the tournament and has not been pushed to an extended one, either.
Eala and Noskova join top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka and fourth-rated Jess Pegula in a star-studded semifinal bracket.
You again
Historically, Eala and Noskova have crossed paths several times, having risen through the junior ranks around the same period.
While Noskova won their most recent meeting in the Round of 16 at Indian Wells earlier this year, 6-2, 6-0, Eala owns two victories over the Czech from their junior days, including matches at the French Open juniors and the prestigious Le Petit As U-14 tournament.

Looking ahead to their latest showdown, Eala acknowledged the challenge that awaits.
“Linda, she's a big hitter. Young, but has a lot of experience. My last match with her proved to be difficult for me,” she said. “As we reach the semifinals in Berlin, challenges are expected. I will prepare and show what I've got.”
Armed with confidence and momentum from a breakthrough week on grass, Eala will look to exact revenge and punch her ticket to her first-ever WTA 500 final.
The semifinal clash is scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday (Manila time).
