THE Plantation Bay Resort and Spa in Lapu Lapu City will once again host the Philippines’ Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group II tie against Syria from February 1 to 3 after the International Tennis Federation’s decision to move the venue.
Syria was supposed to host the event but the ITF decided to move the event in the Philippines due to tensions in the Middle East country.
This will be the second time Lapu Lapu City will host the event after the PH Davis Cuppers swept Pacific Oceania in the first round of last year’s Group II tie.
During that tie against Pacific Oceania, Treat Huey, Ruben Gonzales, Johnny Arcilla, and Jeson Patrombon all won their respective matches.
The Philippines remained in Group II after losing to Indonesia in the final.
