CHRISLYN Colleen Sioson and Jhastine Red Ballado won two titles each in the ninth leg of the 16th Head 2014 Junior satellite circuit national tennis annual age-group tournament recently at the Olongapo tennis Club in Olongapo City.
Sioson defeated Monica Cortez twice, 6-3, 6-2 in the 18-and under title match and 6-3, 6-1 in the 16-under division final of in the tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association.
A player from from Orani in Bataan, Sioson teamed up with Alyssa Reyes and beat Jovie Anne Macaraeg and Monica Cortez, 8-6, in the girls’ 18-under doubles final.
Ballado took home the girls’ 14-under and 12-under singles crowns, beating Althea Fay Ong, 6-1, 6-4, in the girls’ 14-under finals and 6-2, 6-2 in the 12-under championship round.
In other divisions, top seed Marcen Angelo Gonzales beat second seed Jose Nicolas Cano, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, in the boys’ 18-under final, while Neil Tangalin won over Marcus Del Rosario, 6-4, 6-2, in the boys’ 16-under singles final.
Cano and Gonzales defeated Cenon Gonzales and Del Rosario, 8-6, for the boys’ 18-under doubles title.
Second seed Del Rosario beat Maraphael Teng in the final of the boys’ 14-under singles event, 7-6 (4), 6-2, while Jed Bongco whipped Edgardo Angara, 6-1, 6-4, to bag the boys’ 12-under singles crown in the tournament that drew 100 players from Olongapo, Bataan, Tarlac, Pangasinan and Pampanga.
Angara beat Marc Andre Jarata, 6-2, 6-2, to win the 10-under unisex crown in the event supported by Smart Communications, Smart Sports, Chris Sports, Head Graphene, Toalson and official tennis ball Head.
