ALEXANDRA Eala led the way as the Philippine Under-14 girls team scored a 3-0 sweep of Iraq to clinch a semifinal berth in the 2017 ITF Team Championships for Boys and Girls Asia Oceania Qualifiers in New Delhi, India.
Eala, ranked 12th in Asia, beat Lava Rasul, 6-0, 6-0, and teamed up with Gaby Zoleta in the doubles to beat Naba Al-Luhabi and Rasum, 6-0, 6-0.
Carmencita Carlos also swept Zalal Khalil, 6-0, 6-0, to complete the domination.
The Philippines swept Group A following to advance into the knockout semifinals.
Jordan swept Group B after beating Nepal, 3-0, and Singapore, 2-1.
The top two teams in the Asia/Oceania qualifiers will move to the final qualifying event. The Tom Falcis-coached squad is supported by the Philippine Sports Commission.
