THE grand slam debut of Alex Eala came to an end as she and Renata Zarazua lost to Olga Danilovic and Anastasia Potapova, 1-6, 3-6, in the second round of the women’s doubles of the 2025 French Open late Friday night.

The Russian and Serbian pair made quick work of the Filipina and Mexican partners, who immediately fell behind 0-2 and never really got their act together in a one-sided match that lasted only an hour and five minutes.
Eala and Zarazua showed a lot of fighting in beating Briton Emily Appleton and Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers of Spain, 7-5, 6-4, in their debut as doubles partner.

But they couldn't replicate that brave performance in second round. In fact it wasn't until the third game of the first set that they scored their first point. They trailed 1-2, and allowed their opponents to win four sraight games to seal the opening set.
Danilovic and Potapova, who also teamed up in the Australian Open earlier this year, raced to a 4-0 lead in the second set and were never really threatened.
The loss ended Eala’s first-ever entry to a grand slam main draw, which started shakily with a three-set loss to Eimliana Arango of Colombia in the first round.
