VICTORIA Mboko and Alex Eala withdrew from women's doubles at the 2026 French Open, likely because of injury to the Canadian world No. 9.

The tandem pulled out of the competition just minutes before their scheduled opening-round match against Leylah Fernandez and Diana Shnaider on Wednesday night.

Oksana Selekhmeteva and Anastasia Zakharova took their place in the draw and booked a ticket to the second round after a 6-3, 6-1 win over the Canadian-Russian pair.

Before the withdrawal, Mboko was seen with tape on her right shoulder during her first-round singles victory, fueling speculation about a possible injury concern. The Canadian is still scheduled to face Katerina Siniakova in the second round.

No official reason has yet been announced, though Mboko has dealt with injury concerns earlier this season, including a right-elbow issue that forced her to pull out of the Dubai Championships in February.

Eala, on her end, exited Roland Garros early after absorbing a 4-6, 2-6 first-round loss to world No. 17 Iva Jovic on Tuesday night.
