ALEX Eala continued her stellar start at the W50 Pune tiff in India, winning both her opening games in the singles and doubles tournament this week.
After surviving a scare in doubles on Tuesday, Eala flexed her might in singles as she drubbed Hungarian foe Fanny Stollar, 6-2, 6-2.
No sweat for Alex
The 18-year-old hardly broke a sweat as she breezed past into the Round of 16 in just an hour and six minutes.
Eala ended the opening set by winning three straight games to prevail, 6-2.
She then raced to a 5-1 advantage in the second salvo to secure the victory in her first singles match since the Australian Open qualifiers in Melbourne.
Come-from-behind win
In doubles, Eala and Latvian partner Darja Semenistaja needed three sets to dispose of foes Eri Shimizu and Yu-yun Li, 6(7)-7, 6-1, 10-7.
The Filipino-Latvian duo bounced back from a tough first set loss with a 6-1 drubbing of their foes to complete the comeback in an hour and 37 minutes.
Eala plunges back into action on Thursday for the women’s doubles quarterfinal.
In the singles tournament, Eala is still awaiting the result of another match to determine her next foe.
