IT’S official: Alex Eala has crashed the Women’s Tennis Association Top 100, moving up to No. 75 in the latest updated rankings released on Monday.
This is the highest a Filipino has ever reached in world tennis.

The achievement came after a series of upsets over Top Five players, including No. 2 Iga Światek and No. 5 Madison Keys, in the round of 16 and quarterfinals, respectively, of the WTA 1000 Miami Open in Florida.

Eala, who entered the tournament as a wild card, was ranked No. 140 at the time and exited with her career-best ranking.
