AFTER putting together one of the longest win streaks of her pro career, Alex Eala climbed four spots in the world rankings to come close to her career-best standing.
The 20-year-old Filipina now sits at WTA No. 57, just a rung shy of her career-high No. 56, per the latest WTA update on Tuesday.

Eala is fresh from a quarterfinal run at the São Paulo Open in Brazil following her breakthrough WTA crown at the Guadalajara 125 in Mexico - a hot stretch that saw her win seven straight matches.
Up next, the rising star heads to Asia for the Jingshan Tennis Open in China, a WTA 125 hardcourt tournament set for September 22–28.

She will be joined in the field by familiar names such as Arianne Hartono and several of the region’s top contenders.
The final draw and listing for the tournament are expected to be published in the next few days.
