THERE were no more comebacks this time for Alex Eala as she settled for runner-up honors at the W25 Aldershot, losing to Destanee Aiava, 6-3, 4-6, 1-6, in Great Britain on Sunday.
Even with the loss, Eala wrapped up an impressive two weeks in Great Britain with a title and a runner-up finish under her belt.
Eala falls flat
Eala fell flat in the deciding third set after falling short of a comeback in Set 2 where she battled back from a 1-5 hole, breaking Aiava’s serve in Game 9 to get within 4-5.
But Eala committed a crucial double fault after saving two set points to give the break point and the set to Aiava, 6-4.

The tough break seemed to deflate Eala’s spirits as she was blanked in the first five games of Set 3, 5-0.
Despite a love game to put herself on the board, 1-5, Aiava relied on her serve to get her past the Filipina ace and into the title, 6-1.
