ALEX Eala ended her 2026 WTA season with a runner-up finish in the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open.
The Filipina tennis star bowed to world No. 102 Claire Liu, 6-3, 6-0 in the championship match on Sunday at Victoria Park Centre Court.
With the American leading, 4-3, in set 1, Eala started to be bothered by her right knee which needed medical attention midway through the match.
But her body just caught up with Eala losing nine consecutive games including a 24-minute first game in the second set to end up on the wring end of a bagel.
Still, she will take home USD62,115 from sher bridesmaid finish including 165 ranking points which would allow her to end the season within the top 15.
