ALEX Eala and French partner Estelle Cascino took the women’s doubles title at the ITF W75 Croissy-Beaubourg on Saturday after toppling top-seeds Jessika Ponchet and Maia Lumsden in a hard-fought final, 7-5, 7-6 (4).
It was Eala's second ITF doubles title overall. She won both of her titles this year.
The pair squandered an early 3-0 lead as Ponchet and Lumsden strung four straight game wins to take the 4-3 advantage and once again found themselves trailing the title favorites after Game 9, 4-5.
But Eala and Cascino titled the momentum in their favort when they broke to claim the 6-5 lead before blanking Ponchet and Lumsden to take the opening set, 7-5.
In Set 2, Eala and Cascino played catch-up anew as they had to fight back from down 4-5 and 5-6. But showing nerves of steel, the pair forced the tiebreak and completed the sweep, 7-4.
