Though she fell to Australia’s Maya Joint in the championship match, Eala’s performance turned heads with a string of notable wins over Hailey Baptiste, Jelena Ostapenko, Lucia Bronzetti, and Dayana Yastremska — starting all the way from the qualifying rounds.
This new ranking surpasses her previous best of No. 69 and places her just three spots behind four-time grand slam champion and former World No. 1 Naomi Osaka, who currently sits at No. 53.
