AS projected, Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala dropped to No. 45 with her total of 1255 points in the latest Women's Tennis Association rankings released on Monday.
Eala slid 16 places after losing 270 points at the conclusion of the 2026 Miami Open.
She was coming off a career-high No. 29, which she reached in mid-March after back-to-back round-of-16 finishes at Indian Wells Open and the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Despite another round-of-16 showing in Miami, Eala was only able to defend 120 of the 390 points she earned from last year’s historic run to the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament.
The US Sunshine Double marks the end of Eala’s hard-court campaign, as she shifts to clay and opens her season at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz in the second week of April.
In 2025, Eala posted a 2–4 win-loss record across four clay tournaments from April to June, a stretch that included her campaign at the French Open. She reached the round of 16 at the Oeiras Open, exited in the round of 64 at the Madrid Open, fell in the round of 128 at the Italian Open, and bowed out in the first round in Paris.
At the top of the rankings, Aryna Sabalenka remained world No. 1 with 11,025 points. Elena Rybakina followed with 8,108 points, while Coco Gauff climbed back into the top three with 7,278 points.
