ALEX Eala will be looking to flip the script on Czech teenager Tereza Valentova when she steps back on court on Monday night in the WTA 1000 Qatar TotalEnergies Open.
Now ranked a career-high No. 40 by the WTA, Eala is already in her fifth tournament of the year, carrying momentum from a run to the quarterfinals of the WTA500 Abu Dhabi Open before losing to Ekaterina Alexandrova, 3-6, 3-6.

Across the net in the round-of-64 clash at Centre Court in Doha is WTA No. 48 Valentova, the 18-year old sensation who got as far as the round of 32 of the Australian Open before bowing to eventual champion Elena Rybakina.
Along the way, the Czech also took out Maya Joint — the same player who edged Eala in a marathon three-setter at the Eastbourne finals last year.

Monday’s clash marks their second meeting as the first came in Japan in 2025, where Valentova came away with a straight-sets 6–1, 6–2 win.
They will meet on Monday, not before 8 p.m., Manila time.
