FILIPINA teen tennis ace Alex Eala defeated Czech foe Linda Noskova, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, to climb the semifinals of the 2020 Roland Garros French Open Girls' Singles tournament in Paris, France Thursday night (Manila time).
The tenacious 15-year-old was able to recover from her loss in the opening set, breaking Noskova's serve early in the second set to force a decider.
In the third and final set, the 16-year-old opponent tried to regain control by taking the first game before the Filipina prodigy quickly answered with consecutive holds and breaks from thereon to seal the win.
Eala, currently at World no. 4, will next face World no. 6 Elsa Jacquemot of France in the semifinals.
She's two wins away from another Grand Slam junior title after conquering the Australian Open January this year.
