FILIPINA Alex Eala advanced to the third round of the French Open juniors, defeating Germany's Mara Guth, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4, on Monday in Paris.
The 15-year-old Eala slipped in the second after a strong opening set, but regained her rhythm in the third following a lenghty rain delay.
Fourth in the ITF junior girls rankings, Eala next faces Spain's Leyre Romero Gormaz, who beat Diana Shnaider of Russsia, 6-3, 7-5.
Eala beat Natalia Szabanin of Hungary, 6-4, 6-1, in the first round.
