THE chase for tennis honors and ranking points resumes as the Palawan Pawnshop age-group circuit fires off on Friday in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat with another huge field expected to vie for top honors in various divisions.
The Group 2 tournament sanctioned by Philta also serves as the kickoff leg of a series of tournaments in Mindanao featuring events in General Santos, Koronadal City, Polomolok City, Kidapawan City, Tagum City, Digos City and Davao City.
Registration for the four-day event is ongoing and free in line with the organizers and sponsors’ desire to give all tennis playing youths a chance to play in competitive tournaments. Deadline for listup is at 12 p.m. on Thursday.
“Through the years, it has been the commitment of Palawan Pawnshop and Babolat to develop our players by providing top-notch tournaments like this,” said Philta regional vice president and Palawan Pawnshop chief operating officer Bobby Castro. “By making it an open tournament, we want to give all the young netters a feel of tournament play.”

“We are thankful for Palawan Pawnshop’s continuing support to tennis and we expect to produce a new breed of players from this year-round, nationwide circuit,” said Philta president Rep. Edwin Olivarez.
