    Taekwondo jins Alora, Uy give Team Philippines two more gold medals

    Kirstie Elaine Alora and Kristopher Robert Uy give the country two more golds in taekwondo in the penultimate day of the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar.

    KIRSTIE Elaine Alora and Kristopher Robert Uy posted come-from-behind victories to capture gold medals in the final day of the taekwondo competitions of the Southeast Asian Games on Saturday in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

    Alora defeated Davin Sorin of Cambodia, 6-4, to win the gold in the women’s +73 kg category following a scintillating third round to come back from a 0-3 deficit at the end of the second.

    Uy took the gold in the men’s +87 kg category with a 7-6 victory over Quang Duc Dihn of Vietnam after he overhauled a 4-6 deficit entering the final round.

    It was the third straight gold medal for Alora in the SEA Games.

    The Philippine taekwondo team wrapped up its SEA Games campaign with three gold medals with Jade Zafra earlier ruling her event to go with the victory of the men's poomsae squad of Djustin and Raphael Mella, and Vidal Marvin Gabriel.

    Francis Aaron Agojo (+73kgs) won a silver while Jane Rafaelle Narra (-73 kgs) and Mary Anjelay Pelaez (-46 kgs) took the bronze on Saturday.
