THE Philippines won two gold, three silver and three bronze medals on Monday in the 4th Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championship at the Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom.
Jean Pierre Sabido, Ernesto Guzman Jr., and Glenn Lava won the gold medal in the men’s over-30 division.
The two-time world champion trio got 7.97 points to edge last year’s titlist Iran (7.88), and South Korea (7.72).
Jeordan Dominguez won the men’s individual poomsae freestyle with a score of 7.72 points.
Rodolfo Reyes Jr. and Mella brothers Dustin Jacob and Raphael Enrico settled for second in the men’s team event behind Indonesia, while the women’s team of Jocel Ninobla, Clare Gascon, and Angelica Joyce Gaw placed second behind Chinese Taipei.
Reyes also took the silver in the individual men’s under-30 class, bowing to South Korea’s Chang Yun Oh.
Ninobla placed third in the women’s under-30 division, while Rinnna Babanta and Dustin Mella (mixed pair under-30) and Guzman (men’s over-40) also bagged bronze.
