Maroons pace UAAP men's taekwondo tilt

    Sep 15, 2012

UNIVERSITY of the Philippines went through the wringer before nipping National University, 4-3, late Friday to keep the men’s division lead in the UAAP Season 75 taekwondo tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Fighting Maroons continued their surprising run in the three-day meet and are now 4-0.

Victories by UP over University of the East and La Salle on Tuesday would give the Diliman-based jins the championship.

The Green Archers, meanwhile, proved to be a big threat to University of Santo Tomas’ reign, as La Salle defeated the defending champions, 5-2.

The Archers and the Growling Tigers are in joint second with identical 4-1 records.

UST bounced back from its loss to La Salle with a 6-1 thumping of Far Eastern University.

UE drubbed Ateneo, 5-2, for its second win in five outings to take fourth place.
