INCHEON, Korea — Levita Ronna Ilao settled for a bronze medal at the start of the taekwondo competitions of the Asian Games with a 5-1 loss to Li Zhaoyi of China in the semifinal round on Tuesday at the Ganghwa Dolmens Gymnasium.
Li scored all the points in the third round against Ilao to move into the gold medal match in the women’s 49kg category.
Ilao won against Doan Thi Huong Giang of Vietnam, 3-1, in the round-of-16, and dispatched Rosa Luisa Delos Santos of Timor Leste, 6-2, in the quarterfinal to assure herself at least a bronze medal.
Samuel Morrison and Kristopher Uy are also set to see action in the men’s -74kg and -87kg division, respectively, on Tuesday.
