FAR Eastern University claimed four of the eight gold medals in the recently-concluded women’s taekwondo competitions of the Philippine National Games at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Winlove Dela Cerna captured the gold in the flyweight crown by beating national team member Ma. Isabelle Mora, while Geena Mae Gadit took the bantamweight crown after defeating Karen Celis of University of the East.
Cecilia Viray and Clouie Boliras also added to FEU’s coffers when they took the featherweight and lightweight divisions against opponents from University of Santo Tomas.
Viray upended Arrian Asugurado, while Boliras defeated Marjelle Sy for the gold.
National team members Mary Pelaez (finweight), and Reign Charm Ragatuna (middleweight), Pasig’s Fatima Palencia (welterweight) and Delta’s Charlene Virtudazo (heavyweight) also captured gold medals.
Former UAAP Most Valuable Player Christian Dela Cruz led the list of winners in the men’s division, topping the welterweight class by beating Joel Alejandro of Pasig.
Other winners include Matthew Michael Padilla of Arellano (finweight), Joenel Rendora of University of the East (flyweight), Lorenz Chavez of Rizal Technological University (bantamweight), Eddtone Lumasac of RTU (featherweight), Arven Alcantara of National University (lightweight), Tatoy Cordero of University of the Philippines (middleweight), and Nicole Zapanta of Pasig (heavyweight).
