NEW taekwondo heroes from a five-month competition called Philippine Taekwondo League (PTL) at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The first leg was launched last June 2, but the rest of the competition will be held in 10 regions all over the country, including the National Capital Region.
Elimination round in the senior division had been completed with the top nine men and women’s teams qualifying for the round-robin stage.
Some of the country’s best jins will see action as top squads from the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and the UAAP (University Athletic Association of the Philippines) have signed up for the event set in different SM malls. The first mall tiff will be held at SM Fairview on July 6.
Senior men and women teams vying in the round-robin stage are De La Salle, San Beda, University of the East, Rizal Technological University, Ateneo, Far Eastern University, San Sebastian, University of the Philippines, Lyceum University and University of Santo Tomas.
There will also be competition in the junior and cadet divisions.
PTL commissioner Monsour del Rosario noted there are more entries and bigger prizes in the PTL's third season.
