LA Salle made it six in a row after posting two convincing victories in the men’s division of the UAAP Season 75 table tennis tournament at the Blue Eagle gym Sunday.
The Green Archers moved closer to completing a first-round sweep when they beat National University and University of the Philippines via identical scores of 3-0.
In women’s play, La Salle stunned defending champion University of the Philippines, 3-2, to stay unbeaten in six starts.
Singles players Jethro Yatco and Walden Ledesma, and the tandem of Earvin de Pedro and Chong Tan delivered, for the Archers against the Bulldogs.
Yatco defeated Patrick Jalandoni, 11-4, 9-11, 11-9, 11-2; Ledesma drubbed Adrian Rodolfo, 11-1, 11-7, 11-5; while the duo of De Pedro and Tan edged out Daniel Martin Espiritu and Alvin Vierre, 11-13, 11-6, 13-11, 11-6.
Later in the day, La Salle overpowered the Fighting Maroons, thanks to the victories of Yatco and Ledesma, and the doubles tandem of De Pedro and Tan.
In other men’s matches, defending champion University of Santo Tomas overcame Ateneo, 3-1, and Adamson, 3-0, respectively, while Far Eastern University downed Adamson, 3-0, and UP, 3-1.
The Growling Tigers and the Tamaraws remain in second place with identical 5-1 records.
In other results in the distaff side, the Lady Eagles walloped the Lady Falcons, 3-0, the Tigresses tame the Lady Bulldogs, 3-0, while the Lady Tams nipped the Lady Falcons, 3-2
