REIGNING UAAP MVP Angel Laude captured the women’s singles title of the 2026 PTTF Intercollegiate and Interscholastic Challenge recently at The Home Court in Ayala Malls Manila Bay, Paranaque City.
Laude of De La Salle cruised to an 11-6, 11-3, 11-8 win over Cate Sarmiento of Far Eastern University to claim the title, proving why she is also the top-ranked women’s player in the country with his inclusion to the national team.
"Nakatulong po talaga sa kin yung training namin sa national team, especially lately na parang morning and evening. Siguro doon sa span na ganon ‘yung training namin, nag-improve ako at mas naging prepared para day tournament na ito," Laude said.
Laude never dropped a set on her way to the title.
Laude advanced to the final with a straight sets win over fellow De La Salle player Leslie Dizon, 11-3, 11-5, 11-4. After a first-round bye following a sweep of the group stage, Laude defeated Keya Manada, 11-4, 11-2, 11-7, in the round-of-16, and Micah Tanate, 13-11, 11-7, 11-7.
UST also secured a 1-2 finish in the women’s doubles with Kaye Encarnacion and Janna Paculba beating top-seed Althea Gudes and Tanate, 8-11, 11-7, 15-13, 11-8, in the gold medal match.
De La Salle wound up with the gold in the men’s doubles with Morrison Torres and Joseph Noriega beating UST’s Dirk Atilano and Josh Canalin, 8-11, 13-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-7.
