“IT'S what you do in the dark that puts you in the light."
Michael Phelps is featured in a new Under Armour commercial that pays tribute to the work the legendary swimmer puts in training.
The one-minute, 30-second video, released by Under Armour on Youtube on Wednesday, shows the 22-time Olympic gold medalist in training on the pool and in the gym.
There’s also snippets of the 30-year old Olympian during meals, recuperating and while he sleeps.
Phelps was moved to tears when he watched the video for the first time with his fiancee, Nicole Johnson at the UA headquarters.
"That's insane... to not be afraid and understand everything and what I'm doing and understand that I can't do it alone. That commercial shows a lot about me that the world has never seen," Phelps said.
Part of the “Rule Yourself” campaign, the ad is also a fitting sendoff for the 30-year old swimming great who will be competing in Rio de Janeiro this year in his fifth and final Olympic Games.
The caption for the video reads, “Legacies like his are built over a lifetime like this. Michael Phelps returns for one last time” with the hashtags #RuleYourself #IWILL.
