THE Philippine swimming community is mourning the passing of Richard Luna.
A constant presence in major competitions in different levels nationwide, Luna was the technical director of the Philippine Aquatics Inc. He was 61.

“We are truly grateful for the dedication, passion, and invaluable contributions he shared with the Philippine Aquatics community,” wrote the local federation on its Facebook page.
“His legacy will continue to inspire athletes, coaches, and everyone whose lives he has touched,” the federation added.
“A mentor, leader, and inspiration to many. Coach leaves behind a legacy of dedication, discipline, and heart that will never be forgotten,” wrote the University of Perpetual Help swimming team, a squad that he coaches, on its Facebook page.
The Bert Lozada Swim School described Luna as “one of the pillars of Philippine swimming.”
He is also an executive board member of the Philippine Life Saving, an organization that implements best practices in water safety, life guarding, and drowning prevention.
