A Philippine quartet made noise in the just concluded AOSI (Asian Open Schools Invitational) Short Course Swimming Championships after establishing a new meet record in the boys’ 4x50 meter relay in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Maharlika Aquatics composed of Dick Angelo Carmona, Zachary Joseph Tovera, Dominic Bongotan, and Anton Delia took home the gold following an aggregate time of 1:40.46 seconds at the Assumption University Aquatic Center.
Last year, the New Lagoon Swim Club from Malaysia won the same event with a time of 1:44.98 seconds.
The Philippine side beat out compatriot National Academy of Sports (1:41.85) and Indian Aquatics (1:43.04), which settled for the silver and bronze, respectively.
Tovera represents Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Carmona is from Agusan Del Nortem Caraga region, Bongotan is from Baguio City, Benguet province, and Delia is from San Fernando La Union.
