Team Manila gets Disney treat
The entire U-18 champion team travelled back to Los Angeles from McAllen, Texas a day after winning back the crown following a 6-0 shutout of Glory Adkins Bejar in the title game.
The Disneyland trip was courtesy of the Filipino community in LA led by former Philippine Blu Girl Jenny De Jesus-Cabrera.
Based in LA for a long time now, De Jesus-Cabrera once served as assistant coach to the late baseball and softball great Filomeno ‘Boy’ Codinera.
She also takes care of the team and the rest of Team Manila contingent including Manila Little League president and coach Che Borromeo and team official Rolando ‘Rollie’ Evangelista upon arrival from Texas.
The team will stay a few more days in the US before departing for Manila next week.
The Pinoy softbelles completed an eight-game sweep of the tournament that is making a comeback after a three-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Team Manila previously won the meet in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
