TEAM Manila moved closer toregaining the Pony International World Series Championship as it remained undefeated heading into the final day of competiton on Sunday at the McAllen Softball Complex in Texas.
The Big City softbelles had been dominating the field so far, winning five of their six matches via shutouts.
They completed a sweep of their three games in pool play, beating Nitro (4-0), Mustangs SC (7-0), and STX Gladiatrix (11-0.).

In the playoffs, Team Manila romped past Texas Glory Adkins LT Wood, 11-0, allowed 10th seed American Thunder Gulf Coast a hit but won nonetheless, 4-1, before shutting down Premier Fastpitch, 3-0, for a perfect 6-0 record.
Next for the Pinay softbelles are fellow undefeated and fourth seed Glory Adkins Bejar.
The Texas-based team also scored a 3-0 romp in pool play with victories over Utuado Puerto Rico, 12-1, Texas Thunderstix, 3-2, and Culiacan of Mexico, 3-1.
It won three more games against Nitro, 3-2, RGV Mayhem Hinojosa, 8-1, and a repeat against Texas Thunderstix, 7-1, to arrange the showdown with Team Manila.
The tournament is being revived this year after a three-year absence following the global pandemic.
Team Manila was back-to-back champion of the meet in 2017 and 2018, respectively, before skipping the tournament in 2019 as it prepared for the Manila Southeast Asian Games.
